Our mission at Funk Cancer is to provide prostate cancer education, support and free screening to those in the music entertainment community. Please help us connect music lovers to a simple life-saving test and keep the music playing longer.

DID YOU KNOW?

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the U.S., but some people consider reproductive diseases too private to discuss.

Educational materials available online and in physicians’ offices can be too complicated for many to understand.

Prostate Cancer is curable when it is caught early, but usually asymptomatic until very late.

Musicians often lack health insurance and many who were insured lost theirs when the entertainment industry was shut down by COVID.

Men assume prostate cancer screening is highly invasive, but it is NOT.

So, Let’s Fix This!

Funk Cancer wants to eliminate roadblocks to early detection by providing:

  • Free screening onsite at live music events.

  • Vouchers for Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) tests at corporate partner sites.

Our Long Term Goal: No more deaths from a treatable illness!

Prostate Cancer Statistics

About 248,530 new cases will be diagnosed in the U.S. this year and about 34,130 will die.

This year in Texas, approximately 14,200 new cases will be diagnosed and 2,180 will die.

1 in 8 U.S. men will develop prostate cancer in their lifetime, and 1 in 41 will die from it.

Black men are affected and die at a higher rate than any other racial group.

There are 3.1 million men in the U.S. currently living with prostate cancer.

The highest risk category is from age 50 onwards.
